Yoga Stories: Myth, Movement & Meaning

Every yoga pose has a story.

Behind many of the postures we practise are ancient tales of courage, loss, devotion, transformation and hope. From the fierce warrior Virabhadra to the playful wisdom of Ganesha, from Hanuman's leap of love and faith to the ever-changing story of the moon, these myths have been passed from teacher to student for centuries.

Each month we'll explore one of these stories together.

Our evening begins with time to hear and reflect on the myth before stepping onto our mats to explore the postures it has inspired. We'll then weave these shapes into a welcoming, accessible yoga practice suitable for everyone, whether you're completely new to yoga or have been practising for years.

I've always loved the stories that sit behind our practice. Like the Celtic traditions of this island, they are colourful, imaginative and deeply human. They speak of conflict and compassion, loss and resilience, strength and surrender. While they emerged thousands of years ago, they continue to offer insights that feel surprisingly relevant to our own lives.

These evenings aren't about believing the stories as literal history. They're an invitation to slow down, to wonder, to move, and perhaps to discover something of yourself reflected within them.

Come as you are. Leave having experienced yoga in a way that is thoughtful, playful and deeply connected to its rich tradition.
