Anatomy of Surya Namaskar and Key Postures with Paddy

This in-depth workshop is designed to give you the time, space and guidance to explore the mechanics of some of the key yoga postures in your practice beyond the pace of a regular class.

 

We’ll break down the primary movements of Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) and expand into a selection of foundational postures that support strength, balance and functional alignment across your practice.

 

You’ll explore postures like:

 

  • Tadasana (Mountain Pose)

  • Standing Backbend

  • Uttanasana (Forward Fold)

  • Chaturanga Dandasana

  • Cobra/Upward Dog

  • Downward Facing Dog

  • Stepping Through from Down Dog

  • Warrior 1, 2 & 3

  • Trikonasana (Triangle Pose)

  • Side Angle & Extended Side Angle

 

As well as looking at common mistakes, there will be detailed anatomical breakdowns - understanding the “why” behind alignment, muscle engagement and movement patterns. There will be lots of targeted drills and preparatory movements to help you build strength and more importantly awareness in key areas.

 

Some partner work & drills are also included to help you better feel into your own posture and alignment, as well as before-and-after movement exploration so you can directly experience how new awareness and technique can change your practice. There will be time for some Q&A as well as hands-on adjustments at the end of the workshop.

 

Whether you’re a little newer to yoga practice and want a stronger foundation, or you’re a more experienced practitioner or teacher looking to refine your technique and understanding, this workshop will help you move with more clarity and confidence. You’ll leave with practical tools to support your ongoing yoga practice, and hopefully a few lightbulb moments along the way.
